Rush Canada has taken the crown after being two points back prior to the last game of the season. It was down to the wire, but they secured the title with a win over Premier SI on August 21.

U14 – Female

Congratulations to FC Durham Academy for finishing first place this year. They finished the season with an undefeated record of five-wins and two-draws.

U15 – Male

Congratulations to Toronto Skillz for finishing first place this year. Finishing the season with an overall record of eight-wins, one-loss and one-draw is quite the feat. FC Durham can pull into a tie with Skillz if they take a win over ANB Futbol, but Toronto Skillz hold the tiebreaker with a 2-1 win over FC Durham.

U16 – Male

Congratulations to ANB Futbol for finishing first place this year. ANB went undefeated with seven-wins and three-draws during the course of the season.

RELEASE

Our 2015 Academy League Spring Season wrapped up July 19th and six teams booked their tickets into the Academy Cup Finals to be held November 14-15, 2015 at Centennial Stadium in Toronto.

FC Durham led the way with three titles as their U14, U15 & Sr. Girls Squads topped their respective divisions. Power FC, Eurostar FA and 1v1 Soccer FC took the U16M, U17M and U20 Spring titles respectively.

FC Durham U14M went a perfect 10-0-0 in the spring season, not allowing Toronto Skillz to make up any ground after defeating them 6-4 early in the season.  They put in a dominating performance, finishing with a +41 goal differential.

The U15M Division was a close affair, with three teams finishing within two points of 1st place.  FC Durham once again took home the silverware, finishing one point up on Pro Stars FC and two points up on Master’s FA.

Power FC prevented FC Durham from adding another title by finishing top of the U16M Division. A late season victory over 2nd place FC Durham ensured the Cup would head to Power FC.

It was another dominant performance in the U17M Division – this time by Eurostar FA, who ran the table with a 10-0-0 record.  Sigma FC were there closest rivals, finishing seven points back. As a result of this performance, Eurostar will play the Fall season in the U20M Division.

The U20M race went down to the wire as a 3-1 victory over Sigma FC clinched the title for 1v1 Soccer FC. These teams, along with 2nd place Rush Canada, were separated by only four points at the end of the season.

FC Durham White were deserving winners of the Senior Girls Division after an impressive undefeated Spring Season.  They finished seven points clear of 2nd place Rush Canada.

The Fall season kicked off July 25 and will run until November 8, 2015.  Along with the above divisions, SAAC has also introduced an U20 Women’s Division for the Fall, with the hopes of having it as a full-year Division in 2016.

EuroStar players make their mark in Rome

SAAC

Four Eurostar players were invited to attend a training camp with S.S. Lazio Youth Academy this past August.  Adam Nalywaiko (98), Kian Newell (99), Adam Morphy (99), and Sosa Emovan (00) travelled to Rome, Italy along with Eurostar Director, Luka Shaqiri and two managers.  The boys participated in a pre-season conditioning camp and exhibition games with their respective Lazio age groups receiving up to 5 hours of daily practice time.  The 2-3 coaches assigned per team plus a dedicated agility coach provided a disciplined and high intensity experience.  As the oldest Eurostar player, Adam Nalywaiko progressed very well through the week and was invited to participate in a practice session with the Lazio Primavera squad.  Lazio provided Adam with the full professional soccer player treatment and he showed extremely well playing up two years.

During their visit, the players attended a Lazio v Bassano Virtus Coppa Italia game as well as a Roma v Fiorentina opening season game – both at Stadio Olimpico.

This was an incredible learning experience overall for the Eurostar players to be part of a professional organization.  The Lazio coaches were very impressed overall with their quality and technical ability.  As a result, the Lazio director has invited all four boys to return for additional training and tryouts in 2015.
