ANB’s Araujo signs contract with Brighton and Hove Albion FC

PRESS RELEASE:

ANB Futbol is proud to recognize the accomplishments of Jordan Araujo for signing a professional player contract with the newly promoted premiership club.

Jordan (1999 born) traveled to Portugal in July, 2017 to participate in the Brighton & Hove Albion U18 preseason training camp.  He was then invited to join the club in England, and after performing well in exhibition matches, he accepted a professional offer presented by club representatives.

Jordan has been a member of ANB Futbol since he was 9 years old, playing in various age levels throughout his development, most recently on the U20 team which won the Soccer Academy Alliance Canada (SAAC) league and cup titles in 2016.  He participated in various professional youth tournaments in Europe and many American universities offered scholarship opportunities, but Jordan decided to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming a professional futbol athlete.  He holds European documentation which allows him to sign as a seventeen-year-old under FIFA rules.

ANB Futbol Academy Director, Bassam Naim, is ecstatic with the signing:

“Jordan has been with ANB Futbol for most of his futbol life and everyone in the organization has seen him grow as a player and a person through patience, hard work, and the full backing of his family and ANB Futbol.  I could not be more proud to have been involved in his development and I look forward to seeing him face the next steps in his futbol career.”

“We would also like to thank his agent, Nicco Roffo of the Stellar Group, adidas, SAAC, and most importantly, Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.”

According to Nicco Roffo, futbol intermediary of the Stellar Group:

“I could not be any happier for Jordan. He is a talented player, a top young man, and he deserves everything that comes his way. All of his hard work has paid off and I expect it to continue to do so. I am pleased for both him and ANB Futbol and I look forward to his future Success!”

Major League Soccer (MLS) has announced its 2017 Generation Adidas class including the first Generation Adidas Canada signings. Amongst them is SAAC and ANB Futbol star Adonijah Reid. With this contract, Reid will be entered into the 2017 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 13.

For those that are unaware of what a Generation adidas signing means, see this paragraph from MLS’ official press release: “Generation adidas is a joint program between MLS and adidas that is dedicated to developing exceptional domestic talent in the U.S. and Canada in a professional environment. Each year, a handful of top domestic collegiate underclassmen and youth national team players are signed by the league and placed in the SuperDraft. Championship Weekend: Day Two Results

Written by: Matthew Pedias

SAAC’s Championship Weekend at Centennial Stadium was a huge success. We would like to take this time to thank all SAAC Academies who put in a tremendous amount of work in both on and off the pitch the entire season and especially preparing for SAAC Championship Weekend. We congratulate all of you on a tremendous season and are already looking forward to seeing you again in the Spring.

2016-11-09-1

U13 Male:  vs.

To kick-off “Day Two” of SAAC Championship Weekend, Premier Soccer Institute and Rush Canada (White) battled for the U13M Challenge Final. Rush opened the scoring early on, then added to the lead early in the second-half. They held on to the clean sheet, topping Premier 2-0 and securing the U13M Fall Challenge Trophy. Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought match and good luck in the competitive stream next season!

U14 Male:  vs.

Next up, Spring Champions (Rush Canada) took the field against Fall Champions (FC Durham) in the U14 Male Academy Cup Final. From kick-off, this match had non-stop action. FC Durham jumped ahead to a 2-0 lead, but there was no quit in Rush Canada, who quickly responded with a goal of their own. Then, in the dying minutes they were awarded a penalty kick and made no mistake tying the game 2-2.

An incredible match from the first whistle, they then went straight to penalty kicks. In the end, FC Durham was able to regain their composure and win 6-5 on penalties. We congratulate both teams on such an amazing game as well as a fantastic season!

U14 Female: vs.

Our next game featured Spring and Fall Champions (FC Durham) taking on second-seeded London FA. Despite FC Durham being undefeated in both the Spring and Fall campaign, this match was extremely close. At halftime, neither team was able to find the score-sheet. While both teams had their chances, it was FC Durham that broke the deadlock and managed to pull out the 1-0 victory. With that, they completed the treble as Fall, Spring and Academy Cup Champions! Well done to both teams on a very entertaining match as well as a great season.

U16 Female:  vs.

Our final match of SAAC’s Championship Weekend was between Fall Champions (Rush Canada) and Spring Champions (FC Durham) for the U16 Female Academy Cup. Rush Canada burst out of the gate with a goal within the first five minutes. Shortly after, they added to their lead through a cross in the box. However, FC Durham did not quit and answered back with a goal of their own making it 2-1 heading into halftime. Rush seemed to regain composure, and scored almost immediately after halftime to go up 3-1. That would be the final score as Rush Canada secured the U16F Academy Cup! Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought match.

Congratulations to all SAAC Academy teams and we look forward to another successful season next year! Enjoy the break.
